• How many times a year are children given a wardrobe?

Dressed for School provides eligible K-5 children with a full seasonal wardrobe consisting of: 5 pairs of underwear, 1 bra (if needed), 5 pairs of socks, 5 top pieces, 4 bottom pieces, and a pair of gym shoes twice per year.

Elgible Grade 6+ students may receive a partial to full wardrobe once per year, depending on needs.

All new. All free of charge.

  • How does a child qualify for a wardrobe?

1/3 of Porter County students qualify for free or reduced meals. Those same students enrolled in K-5 qualify for seasonal wardrobes from Dressed for School.

We also provide grade 6-12 wardrobes for families in crisis. This might include those who have suffered a crisis such as a divorce, fire or temporary financial distress.

  • How much do you spend on average for a wardrobe?

Our wardrobes, including shoes, averages $150 per wardrobe. A student is eligible for 2 wardrobes per year. If you are looking to donate monetarily to cover one student, $300 would be a good dollar amount.
